To infinity and beyond – Telkom announces unlimited mobile data plans

Infinity Telkom

Imagine heading back to the days of not stressing about data caps – like a couple of years ago when everybody you met owned a Blackberry. You paid a monthly fee and suddenly had unlimited data. Well, that might be back on the cards – if you’re a Telkom customer. The telecommunications company just announced two new mobile postpaid plans which will help save you the worry.

The plans are named Infinite and FlexOn and will only be available on month-to-month options. The only options are SIM-only and come in either 24- or 36-month flavours. The Infinite plan seems to be Telkom’s standout since it will offer unlimited mobile data for just R300 p/m.

Unlimited Data

The Infinite plan has two offers for you to pick from: Infinite Standard and Infinite Max.

Both Infinite plans come with 300 minutes of call time which can be used across any South African network. For on-network calls, you’ll have 6,000 minutes to play around with.

Weird flex, Telkom, but okay

If Infinite bundles aren’t for you, then the FlexOn plans may be what you’re after. There’s a ‘cheap’ option, which gives a user 2GB for R99 p/m. The step-up option is a 6GB plan costing R199 p/m. Here, data doesn’t disappear at the end of every month. Data carries over for an extra month, allowing you to make the most of the contract.

If you yourself are interested in switching to any of these plans, they are available to both new and old Telkom customers and can be purchased in any of the regular methods for a new contract.

These contracts will certainly help Telkom keep its growth on the up. Just last week the company released its end-of-year financial results. Telkom saw growth of 10.5% in its userbase, bringing its total near 16.9 million users. Not too shabby.
