Edgars is the latest South African store looking to hop on the delivery bandwagon. But on EdgarsSixty60, things will work slightly differently. Edgars is partnering with South African logistics company Pargo for a click and collect option at its stores.
Does this still count as delivery?
If you aren’t familiar with click and collect, it’s very similar to regular shopping. But with less walking and forgetting what you wanted to buy. You shop online and fetch your stuff at the nearest pickup point when it suits you.
This allows people living in difficult to reach areas that might not qualify for delivery, the opportunity to make use of online shopping and fetch their parcel when they’re near a pickup point.
With Edgars onboard, Pargo’s network of pickup points increases by over 100. That makes the growing network of over 3,000 pickup points the largest in the country.
Lars Veul, Pargo CEO, said, “Creating access is what we’re all about at Pargo. When we first started out, South Africans living in outlying areas or those with informal addresses had no feasible, reliable delivery option available to them when shopping online, but with Click & Collect, we’ve been able to solve this critical issue and we are absolutely thrilled that Edgars has chosen our solution to reach those customers too.”
While it isn’t exactly as convenient as something like CheckersSixty60 or whatever Spar’s thing is called, if your address isn’t on Google Maps then this seems like the next best alternative.
