Jeep embarks on the trail heading up to its first full EV SUV launch in 2023

Jeep has revealed its first full-on electric SUV. According to parent company Stellantis, it will be on sale from 2023 and is its first step to a zero-emissions future. Jeep plans to offer a fully electric alternative in each SUV category by 2025. First up, though, is this little yellow number.

We don’t know much about the vehicle yet. Even the name is still a secret at this point in time. But thanks to some juicy images, and Stellantis’ Dare Forward 2030 business plan that explains they’re “embracing new mindsets”, we can at least tell you something.

The EV Jeep has the brand’s signature traits. The bulky 4×4 look remains still fully intact. Images of the Jeep show a giddy yellow and black with door handles just underneath the windows, rather than in their normal spot. The to-be-named SUV seems a tad smaller, like most EVs. Think city-size and not safari-size, perhaps? Most speculation is that it’ll be an EV version of Jeep’s  Compass, but those rear lights are also suggestive of the Renegade.

As for newer details, those will arrive when Jeep is feeling generous. Or maybe we will experience a few leaks, like with the Superbowl ad? Or just an old-fashioned tweet. The company’s all for embracing new mindsets, after all. Some of those mindsets, besides electrification, include investment in mobility, data as a service, and better carbon behaviour.

Stellantis also confirmed two more EV Jeeps are coming to a road or trail near you in 2024. That’d be one off-roader and a family SUV. One could be a battery-powered version of the Jeep Wrangler, as we predicted (queue evil laugh). The company plans to launch 25 more EV models in the upcoming years and remake its brand as an EV manufacturer. Good luck, Stellantis, we’re all for electric… anything, so you do you!
