2022 hasn’t been very kind to Blackberry. Well, none of the years since 2013 have, but this one in particular.
Only last week the company shut down legacy services for devices running its operating systems. Specifically, BlackBerry 7.1 OS, BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry Playbook OS 2.1. That didn’t mean you’d have to throw away your trusty device but it did mean they stopped functioning reliably. So you might as well toss them.
Following that announcement, a keen-eyed user of the CrackBerry forum pointed out that the few surviving BlackBerry Android apps would be reaching end-of-life at the end of August this year.
Those apps are Password Keeper, DTEK, Launcher, Privacy Shade and Keyboard. These will be the last BlackBerry specific apps on Android devices to face their demise. Several apps already met their end in 2019.

This is a bit of a pity. Some of those were actually kind of good. Android could use the functionality of some of those, like Privacy Shade, to stop peeping eyes on your screen. Among other things.
Keep in mind that end-of-life doesn’t mean they’re completely gone. You’ll still be able to find them, just as you can other end-of-life apps in the Google Play Store. But these are no longer supported or updated so if you want to try installing them, you won’t have anyone to turn to if things go south.
Even if BlackBerry’s current owner, Onward Mobility, manages to somehow bring out another device as the rumours suggest, it’ll likely be without any propriety software or hardware.
