BMW and LVL team up to launch real-life Rocket League for charity

BMW Real-Life Rocket League

Before you get too excited — yes, BMW and gaming brand LVL are teaming up to create a real-life Rocket League. But no, they won’t be using actual, life-sized cars to do it. Even though that would be awesome.

Instead, the motoring brand and the gaming gear creator are making something called Das Race Goal. This is a Rocket League-like esports event that uses RC cars and an arena to recreate the whole football-using-cars mechanic.

BMW banging around

The event will see six three-player teams navigating remote-controlled cards roaming around the BMW Welt stadium in Munich. The cars will traverse the stadium, snagging virtual powerups and setting off “special effects”. What that means, we’re not sure. We’re obviously hoping for explosions.

The event will be streamed on LVL’s Twitch channel, and the first of them kicks off on 12 December at 20h00 South African Standard Time. The point? To raise money for the United Nations Population Fund’s Skills for Life program. Teams are made up of one esports player (there will be representatives from Cloud9, Fnatic, G2, and OG), an influencer, and a young gamer involved in the UN’s program.

This won’t be a one-off event, either. The partnership of BMW, LVL, and the UN will apparently be more of a long-term prospect. This means we’re in for an exciting physical event — however it actually functions.
