Comic Con Cape Town finally has a new scheduled date. The event will take place on 2 October, barring any further major shutdowns. Reed Exhibitions Africa, the event organiser, took to Twitter on Tuesday to announced the new date.

The company added, “There will be a strong focus on connecting the geek & pop culture communities of Cape Town, with these pop-up activations at various locations with Covid–19 regulated capacities.”

Something for every Comic Con fan out there

Attendees can look forward to a variety of events including cosplay competitions for the professionals, casuals and kids. There’s also something for the artists with a Comic Art Drink & Draw as well as sketch-off competitions.

Fancy yourself a fountain of pop culture knowledge? Join in on one of the pop culture quiz sessions and you might even score yourself a prize or two. If your interests lie within games then why not see if you’ve got what it takes to win in one of the gaming or tabletop competitions?

Originally scheduled to take place in May 2020, the very first Comic Con Cape Town was postponed due to lockdown restrictions and the national state of emergency. It was tentatively moved to April of this year but that too fell through.

Hopefully, this will be the date that sticks and Cape Town fans can experience what fans in Joburg will have to wait another year to enjoy after Comic Con Africa announced the next event will only take place in 2022.
