Microsoft’s new generation Windows launches this month

Microsoft Windows

Microsoft is set to launch its new version of Windows via a virtual event on 24th June 2021.

This was teased at the Build event last week, where MS CEO Satya Nadella announced that details about “the next generation of Windows” would be revealed very soon.

“’I’ve been self-hosting it over the past several months, and I’m incredibly excited about the next generation of Windows,” Nadella said.

“Our promise to you is this: we will create more opportunity for every Windows developer today and welcome every creator who is looking for the most innovative, new, and open platform to build and distribute and monetise applications.”

Meet Microsoft Sun Valley

The new generation of Windows is currently named ‘Sun Valley’ and according to a report it looks set to come with a whole host of tweaks and tucks to Microsoft’s OS.

According to a report on the The Verge, improvements will include a new Windows Store, which is open to loads more apps and games and an interface that makes what customers are looking for easier to find. It also sounds as though the main UI is getting a bit of an overhaul; Windows Central reports a new battery usage chart, better tab management on MS Edge and more widgets for the taskbar. On top of that, the Redmond tech giant is planning to add Auto HDR to make gaming a better experience.

All this and more is likely to be confirmed later this month, so mark your calendars.
