There’s now a R162 calculator for the Nintendo Switch… because reasons

Calculator

The Nintendo Switch, the bastion of handheld gaming and indie darlings from around the globe, now has a brand new killer app. It’s dynamic, robust and it allows users to multiply a large number with another large number. That’s right, you can now install a calculator app onto your Nintendo Switch. You know, for when you desperately need to figure out the square root of 567 and you don’t have you phone in your pocket but your Switch is right there.

We can sit here and lament that the fact that a calculator app on the Switch is a dumb idea but that would be rude. Why would you bad mouth a free app that you can…

Wait, hold on. No no, wait a second. It costs R162?

Calculator problems

Ah, okay. Now we totally can dump on it. From the looks of things, this app isn’t special or unique in any way. If anything the most interesting thing about it is that it looks vaguely similar to the older iOS number-cruncher you no doubt used back on the iPhone 4 and 5.

Perhaps there’s something special contained within the app’s description on the Nintendo Switch eShop? “A scientific calculator with a clear easy-to-read multi-line display, which should help with those not-so-easy-to-do maths problems. Calculator has an appealing modern and practical design, sure to be popular with all students and engineers,” reads the description.

Okay, so it really is the most generic calculator. Well, at least it’s a better app than Balan Wonderworld.
