ZTE launches the first 5G indoor router in South Africa

International telecoms brand ZTE has launched the first 5G indoor router in South Africa, in partnership with MTN. Which is fitting because MTN’s gone and rolled out 5G in parts of the country, with a much larger footprint planned in the coming months. ZTE’s hardware, the 5G Indoor Router MC801A, is the first that will allow you to share 5G speeds with the rest of the devices in your home.

Time for a real Zoom call

ZTE’s speedy 5G Indoor Router MC801A supports Wi-Fi 6 tech, allowing multiple users on the same 5G connection – which is handy because everyone’s going to want to stream at your house. The hardware independently hunts for better signals thanks to its Smart ANT smart antenna algorithm (that would only sound slightly better if it applied to an actual ant), and will allow at-home access to 5G in 5G- supported areas of the country – but you’ll of course need an MTN SIM and contract, which is why the partnership exists.

You don’t have to limit yourself to 5G – if you like the cylindrical (and iF Design award-winning) look of ZTE’s tech, you can get it working with 4G as well since it supports NSA and SA 5G networks as well as 4G (and 5G, obvs.) mainstream standards. But first prize is its 5G access capability, which suffers from less congestion, speeds up streamed video tremendously and is generally more stable to work with.

You want high speeds, low latency, broad coverage in the home, as well as speedier connections for IoT (internet of things) devices, as well as future-proofing your domicile for a time when slow internet connections are a distant memory? You’re going to want the ZTE 5G Indoor Router MC801A, available from MTN, sitting on your shelf.
