While we wish this hadn’t taken place, we’re oddly okay with it. Game publisher/developer CD Projekt’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed from its 16 April 2020 launch to later this year. September 2020 is the new date to look forward to.

The reason given for the delay is that “there is still work to be won”. CD Projekt says that “…due to the sheer scale and complexity of it all, we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing and polishing.” And, honestly, we’re willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
The studio’s previous title, the stunning The Witcher III: The Wild Hunt, went though several delays prior to its eventual release. The game still wasn’t perfect at launch but it was far better than anyone was expecting. A similar delay for a similar result with Cyberpunk 2077? That’s a small price to pay to run with Keanu Reeves, the right way.
There’s a multiplayer component to the game but that’s not going to be available at launch. After 2021 is the admittedly vague time of arrival for that one. The massive single-player bit’ll be along in September this year. In the meantime, it’s time to watch that 48-minute gameplay video again.
