Why would you want a Huawei smartphone that costs almost double what the new Huawei P20 Pro goes for? There are a few great reasons, but mostly it’s about looking absolutely awesome. That’s a definite prime reason for owning some high-end smartphone hardware.
The slick, black Huawei also boasts some mighty impressive specs compared to its cheaper brethren. There’s a 6in OLED display, Huawei’s own Kirin 970 CPU, and a massive 6GB of RAM to be had, as well as a 256GB storage spec. The bump in performance over Huawei’s other phones should be worth it, even if you’re not in it for the bragging rights.
Want another reason to wave nigh-on R30k at this handset? This is also the first smartphone to launch commercially with a fingerprint scanner embedded into the screen, something every smartphone maker has been trying to accomplish. The only exception is Vivo (who only have a prototype). The Porsche Design Mate RS is also the only Huawei with wireless charging (very convenient, yes?) and it sports the same camera built into the excellent P20 Pro. This unit has three sensors (a mad 40MP f/1.8 main sensor, 20MP f/1.6 black and white sensor and an 8MP f/2.4 sensor, working in tandem) and a lot of performance, making it arguably the best camera Stuff has ever seen in a smartphone. An awfully high bar. Oh, and a 24MP f/2.0 selfie-cam.

And remember, you get access to Huawei’s VIP service offering that includes one free screen repair and a loan device during the repair. Oh yes, and if you want one you’d better hurry. Huawei and MTN are only bringing 1,000 of these smartphones into the country. We don’t expect the latest Porsche Design handset going to remain available all that long.
