Khal Drogo confirmed for Comic Con Africa 2018

Hold onto your females, because Jason Momoa is the first A-lister announced for the the first instalment of Comic Con Africa. He is set to to grace us with his presence at the event later this year.

The Game of Thrones and Justice League actor will be attending the event on 15 and 16 September this year, and will be available for autographs and memories.

Jason Momoa is well-known for his part in the Game of Thrones series, portraying the Dothraki chieftain, Khal Drogo — but he also stars as the comic-book hero Aquaman in the Justice League movie. This year, Jason will feature in the standalone Aquaman movie. He also stars as a lead in the Netflix action/adventure series called Frontier, produced by Jeff Fierson and Brad Peyton, with Peyton also directing.

The tattooed mountain of a man also made other movie appearances that include Conan the Barbarian, Bullet to the Head, Sugar Mountain and The Bad Batch. Later this year he will also be appearing in the action-thriller Braven, directed by Lin Oeding, that Jason is also producing.

An African edition of Comic Con has been a long time coming, and the announcement of Momoa’s attendance shows that South Africa is on the map for everything geek culture related. This will (hopefully) draw more big names to our shores — we’re certain that organisers Reed Exhibitions Africa, ReedPOP and VS Gaming have a few more announcements waiting in the wings for 2018.

Comic Con Africa will be held at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit & International Convention Centre and will feature everything encompassing geek culture — with elements of comic books, sci-fi and fantasy-related films, series and similar popular arts as well as a large range of pop culture and entertainment elements including animation, toys, and gadgets (*excited emoji*).

*Edit 30 July 2018* Jason Momoa will no longer be coming to Comic Con Africa due to unforeseen filming schedules.
