Well, that was quick. A KGI analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, has noted that the iPhone X hasn’t been doing as well as expected. The analyst predicts that Apple will ship about 18 million units in the present quarter, lower than the 20 to 30 million others had estimated. This because the Chinese don’t like the notch? Yes…
Apparently, Chinese customers prefer smartphones with larger displays and the iPhone X’s notch design means that effective screen real estate is less than what they would like, at least compared to the 5.5-inch Plus range. It is believed that the iPhone X will approach its end-of-life stage by mid-2018.

Around the same time, Apple will allegedly be starting production on three new handsets that will effectively replace the iPhone X in their top-tier smartphone range. The analyst, Kuo, is very positive about the mid-2018 iPhone range. He says that there will be a 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, a 5.8-inch OLED iPhone, and 6.5-inch OLED iPhone.
All three of these new handsets will boast full-screen displays and are designed to have a reduced notch at the top, with the massive 6.5-inch display model to impress the Chinese buyers and get them onto the iPhone bandwagon again.
But they are still trying…
At least Apple is trying to boost the iPhone X sales in the interim by pimping out its various features. The company has released a new video ad that shows off selfies captured with Portrait Lighting effects.
