New iPhone 8 pictured in (relatively rare) image leak

We’ve been grabbing at any info we can regarding Apple’s upcoming iPhone, because everyone would open their presents early if they could. Or at least peek at them before they’re popped under the tree. We’ve had a look at just about everything on the specs front but we haven’t actually seen the phone. Just best guesses and renders. Until now, that is.

Leaker Evan Blass has posted an image of the iPhone 8, wrapped in a case, on Twitter — which is how he spoils a lot of company announcements. If accurate, this is the first look we’ve had at the iPhone 8 and its front-dominating display. It definitely looks the part, matching mockups and schematics that have been floating around online for months.

It’s not hard to believe that this image is accurate. The Verge points out that the case is made by Under Armour and that the company has a similar unit for the iPhone 7. The website also caught the fact that the image’s screen features a March date, meaning that this picture could be older than expected. It’s possible that the upcoming iPhone has undergone some design changes but it’s highly unlikely. Odds are better than ever that this is what we’ll see announced at Apple’s September event. Minus the case, obviously.
