Does anyone remember the last BlackBerry leak of 2016, consisting of supposed images of their upcoming Mercury handset? It’s okay if you don’t recall, because we’ve got the original post right here. It seems that the leak was pretty on the money, with an official teaser for the device popping up on Twitter last night.
The teaser is just a brief video showing the outlines of the upcoming handset. It doesn’t reveal anything at all about the phone’s interior but the outer appearance… that bears a striking resemblance to last year’s Mercury leak.

But then, it would. This is supposed to be BlackBerry’s last internally designed handset before the reins are completely turned over to TCL. The Chinese company has had a hand in making the DTEK series of BlackBerry phones and it seems that they’ll have a hand in creating this one (the tweet comes via TCL’s North American president and GM). The design, which puts a screen atop a QWERTY keyboard, is all old-school BlackBerry, though.
Concerning specs, nothing has been officially said but a 4.5in HD display (which might or might not have a weird resolution), octa-core CPU, 3GB of RAM, with an 18MP/8MP camera combo and Android 7.0 Nougat are being bandied about. We should know all of the little details when the official reveal happens at this year’s MWC conference.
