Red Dead Redemption 2 will be galloping in late 2017

Aaaaaaah! That’s the only appropriate response, perhaps with a spot of dashing around frantically, to the news that Rockstar Games has announced Red Dead Redemption 2. Officially.

red-dead-redemption-2Following several days of teasers the game developer has finally given us what we’ve been asking for for the past six years — a sequel to the amazing Red Dead Redemption. We still don’t have much information but that’s going to be changing later this week. We do know that the open-world adventure will also feature a multiplayer mode, so there is much more to do once the single-player has been completed. Hopefully (and very likely) it will measure up to the first game, which still has players populating online servers. And given how popular Grand Theft Auto Online has proved to be…

Rockstar’s Sam Houser said “With Red Dead Redemption 2, the team is working hard to push forward our vision for interactive entertainment in a truly living world. We hope to deliver players an epic experience that builds upon everything we’ve learned making games.”

As far as launch platforms go, only the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have been confirmed so far. The PC… we’re still waiting for word on that but we’re hoping that Rockstar is planning a GTA V and the high-resolution PC version is only going to be delayed. The console edition will launch in ‘Fall’ 2017, so we’re expecting a September/October launch next year.

Though we’ve only seen stills up till now, Rockstar plans to release a trailer on Thursday evening — so we know what we’re going to be waking up to this Friday morning. Saddle up and stay tuned, this is going to be epic.
