Snapdragon 820-toting Galaxy S7 reportedly spotted on Geekbench’s charts

The Samsung Galaxy S7 rumours have been nothing if not constant and we’ve got a decent idea what the new smartphone will consist of, as well as a few speculative thoughts. What we don’t actually have is any visual confirmation yet.

We’ve now got a good idea what the Galaxy S7 will be capable of, power-wise, thanks to a leak via the Weibo website in China that claims to have tested the Galaxy S7 in Geekbench. The version tested is the one containing a Snapdragon 820, so we’re getting two pieces of performance info in one.

S6 HeaderThe claimed tests have resulted in a single-core test score in Geekbench of 2,456, with the multi-core racking up a total of 5,423 in the benchmarking software. Those are not shabby numbers, as the Galaxy S6 Edge has only just been topping the 5,000 mark.

Even so, these Snapdragon 820 scores pale in comparison to other performance leaks. The Galaxy S7 with Samsung’s own Exynos 8890 processor is reputed to destroy Geekbench’s multi-core score top-end with a 6,908 being reported. Whatever Samsung’s been feeding their processors, they should just go right on doing it.

We should see something official from Samsung come February this year, if reports are accurate. Expect more leaks to occur between now and then.
