Samsung leaks details of their expected Galaxy S6 Active

It’s one thing to have your details leaked by an outside source or a member of the company who can’t keep their mouth shut, it’s another to pre-empt your own announcement by posting the details where you think no-one will find it. That’s just what Samsung have gone and done though, by revealing the support page and product manual for the Galaxy S6 Active online before they’ve made it official.

Samsung S6 ActiveTheir leak has detailed most of the functions you can expect to see from the S6 Active and these details line up with previous sightings of the phone. At least as far as appearances go.

The leak details the (American) AT&T version of the handset and while the support page has been taken down, the manual for the S6 Active is still around. It’s definitely toting an armoured look compared to the flagship S6’s all-glass appearance and Samsung have given it an IP68 rating this time around – that’s better equipped for hazards than the Galaxy S5 Active, which only had an IP67 rating.

The exact specs of the S6 Active haven’t been wholly confirmed. They appeared on the briefly available support page and seem to be identical to the S6 in most respects. The same processor, RAM and storage options, that qHD display and the 2,550mAh battery… yeah, that smaller battery in a rugged phone might not be great. But it’s possible that Samsung didn’t have all the correct details uploaded before realising their mistake. We’ll have to wait and see.
