Chinese securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has put forward some more predictions as to what Apple may have up its sleeve for the upcoming iPhone 6s.
Kuo has been pretty spot on with predictions in the past, so our ears always stand up a little when he has something to say.
He says the new iPhone will come with a Force Touch display, borrowed from the Apple Watch. The Force Touch technology is more sensitive to varying pressures. Rumours that the new iPad will feature a similarly sensitive display have emerged this week, so it’s highly likely the iPhone will have one too. Does this mean Force Touch display on MacBooks in the future too? Maybe.
Kuo also expects the iPhone to come in a new rose gold colour, to complement the Watch, and there may even be limited numbers of the phone with a sapphire glass screen.
The camera should also be on the receiving end of an upgrade if Ming-Chi Kuo is right. A 12-megapixel sensor has been predicted, along with an upgraded A9 processor with 2GB of RAM. The current iPhone 6 only has 1GB.
Other upgrades should include gesture control and a new microphone near the speaker, presumably to improve voice call quality.
Kuo also confidently says there’ll be no new 4in model, with Apple sticking with its 4.7in and 5.5in models, which considering the new sizes have been responsible for record sales, is no surprise.
As with all rumours, we have to take them with a pinch of salt. With production expected to begin in August, we won’t see the S version until at least September.
