You know nothing, do not pass King’s Landing, do not collect 200 Dragons – Game of Thrones Monopoly is coming

Got your sights set on the Iron Throne? Planning on ousting the Spider, Littlefinger, the Lannisters (except Tyrion, he’s cool) and the Starks in your quest to take over King’s Landing – just in time for snow zombies to show up and put your land under siege? Then the upcoming Game of Thrones edition of Monopoly might be just what you’re looking for.

Announced on the Game of Thrones Twitter account, we at least have a timeline for the arrival of this special edition board-game. Even if it’s about as vague as George R. R. Martin actually doing something with the Khaleesi’s storyline. We’ll see Game of Throne Monopoly in 2015 and it looks as though you’ll have to order it from HBO, though we’re sure that some enterprising folk will find a way to bring it into the country.

Pricing has yet to be announced but you’ll find, when the board game launches, that all of the iconic locations in Westeros will have taken over the more familiar places like Alderaan and Tatooine… wait, that’s not that standard edition of Monopoly, is it?

All of the board pieces will be based on the book/series, so there will be a battle over sigils rather than that shoe that everyone likes. What they’re going to do with the Community Chest cards is what has us intrigued though. “Dragons have razed your keep, miss two turns and pay Tywin Lannister most of your gold in order to rebuild”, perhaps?
