If this leaked benchmark is real, then the Galaxy S6 Edge is the most powerful phone on the planet

Samsung is all set to unveil the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge on 1 March at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and leaked benchmarks of the latter show off some impressive figures.

A device known as the SM-G925W8 (which is believed to be the curved S6 Edge) has made its way through AnTuTu’s benchmarking tests, revealing its specs in the process.

The octa-core Exynos 7420 – Samsung’s own chip expected to grace its new flagships instead of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810) churned out an impressive record high score of 60978 in the benchmarking tests.

my-driversWhile benchmarks aren’t a guaranteed indicator of actual real-world performance, it does give us a glimpse into the potential of Samsung’s upcoming flagships, and the future of even more impressive 3D games. With Gear VR support expected for both of Samsung’s flagship handsets too, that extra graphical grunt will definitely come in handy.

Additional specs noted in the benchmark include 3GB of RAM, a 20MP camera, 32GB of storage and a 5MP front-facing camera for super-charged selfies.

The specs also point to a 5.1in 2560 x 1440 2K display, which will be one of the most pixel-packed screens around, thanks to a whopping 576ppi count.

It’s unclear whether the standard Galaxy S6 will pack the exact same specs, but all will be revealed in just a few weeks at Samsung’s event in Barcelona.
