Huawei’s smartphone plans for 2015 reported to have leaked

Details of what appears to be Huawei’s lineup of smartphones for 2015 have appeared online, giving us a look at what may be heading our way from the Chinese company. Of course, this is happening as we’re getting their newest devices here in SA so we’re a bit annoyed that we have to wait for the new stuff.

Ascend Mate 7On the menu, apparently, are three new handset. There’s the Ascend P8, as well as two phablets: The Mate 8 and the Ascend D8. 2K screens, high-end materials and some speedy, if unconfirmed, specs will be the order of the day.

The Ascend P8 is supposed to be featuring the most premium materials in the 2015 lineup, with metal and ceramic figuring in the 5.2-inch phone’s construction. It’s supposedly going to be sporting a Kirin 930 processor and 3GB of RAM and there’s speculation that a curved screen might be in the offing.

The Mate 8, which also carries the Ascend label, and the Ascend P8 will both reportedly feature 2K displays, with resolutions of 2,560 x 1,440 being the attraction there. The Mate 8 will have that same Kirin 930 processor while there’s talk of an as-yet unseen Kirin 950 chip for the Ascend D8. The D8 is supposedly to be sporting a 5.5-inch display.

There are also mutters about an Ascend 5, 5x, 7 and 7x on the way next year, spaced throughout the market’s price brackets.

At the moment Stuff is playing around with the Ascend Mate 7, so news of the next model is a whole lot premature. Still, if this is all accurate, at least they’re planning ahead.
