FNB’s taking pre-orders for the Xbox One

Not content with being one of the largest resellers of smartphones, tablet computers and laptops in South Africa, FNB is now also offering its customers to chance to pre-order Microsoft’s new Xbox One console and pay it off over two years.

Customers can choose between one of two packages. The first offers just the console (the 500GB model), a wireless controller and a copy of Forza Motorsport 5 (Game-of-the-year edition) at R299/month and will be available from 23 September. This means a total cost of R7 176 over the 24 months.

FNBThe second includes the console (also 500GB), a wireless controller, copies of Forza Motorsport 5 (Game-of-the-year edition), FIFA 15, Kinect Rivals and Dance Central Spotlight DLC. That will set you back R399/month (or R9 576 over the 24 months) and will be available from 26 September.

Kartik Mistry, head of FNB Smart Devices says adding gaming consoles to the list of devices the bank offers has been a good move. “Expanding our smart device range to include gaming consoles has proved to be popular, contributing to 5% of total devices sold over the last 12 months.”

Mistry says that, although the bank’s main aim in selling smart devices to users – devices that are often very close to the market price, or even somewhat subsidised, despite the 24-month repayment model – is to allow them to bank via digital channels, “we cannot deny the increasing move towards a connected lifestyle and home”.

Interested FNB customers can apply for the Xbox One deals under the smart devices section of the bank’s online banking portal.
