Samsung smart TVs get SuperSport and Red Bull TV apps

If you’ve got a Samsung smart TV you’ll find two new apps in Samsung’s Smart Hub, one for Multichoice’s SuperSport, the other for energy drink and media company Red Bull’s Red Bull TV. Samsung’s Smart Hub lets users search for content and download apps to the company’s smart TVs and smart Blu-ray players.

The SuperSport app offers users sports news, fixture listings, logs and live score updates. It also enables users to stream highlights of sporting events almost as soon as they are concluded.

Programming includes the likes of Red Bull TV’s Xtreme CollXtion, a weekly magazine programme showcasing the best action and extreme sports from around the planet, including surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding. It also looks at the lifestyles of extreme-sports athletes.

“Content and apps are important features when it comes to providing a world of opportunities for our customers,” says Corrie Labuschagne, regional product manager for Africa Visual Display at Samsung Electronics. “This partnership with SuperSport and Redbull is another example of the power of strategic partnerships in delivering best of breed solutions to our customers.”

Both apps are free to download and are available immediately. “Today’s consumers are more in tune with what they want and our role as a manufacturer is to ensure we respond to and continually evolve with these needs, in a way that enhances their lives,” Labuschagne adds.

“Samsung Electronics aims to develop ecosystems aligned with our consumers’ lifestyles which form the perfect partnerships with our devices,” Labuschagne says. “Innovations to our Smart Hub offering are an example of this and we will continue to focus on enhancing the way that consumers interact with our technology and devices.”
