Look out Moto 360, the OnePlus OneWatch is just around the corner

OnePlus BGRWe’ve been drooling over Motorola’s circular Moto 360 smartwatch since we first caught a glimpse of it earlier this year. And now it looks like it’s got another rival before it’s even launched.

OnePlus – the Chinese manufacturer behind the excellent OnePlus One – is reportedly working on a circular smartwatch called the OneWatch.

According to BGR’s source, the OneWatch will land with a circular sapphire glass display. If true, we expect its visibility to hold up well in sunlight, and take every beating that life throws its way, thanks to sapphire’s incredible toughness.

Wireless charging and a curved battery are also on the cards, meaning no unsightly microUSB ports to spoil the design, and a leather strap and titanium construction should earn the OneWatch major design points.

A configurable button can presumably be used to carry out functions like triggering a smartphone camera or answering calls.

There’s no mention of what operating system the OneWatch will run, but we’d bet our entire collection of gadgets that Android Wear is the OS of choice.

We’ve already seen what clever tricks Google’s wearable-focused OS can pull off with the LG G watch, and coupled with what appears to be a premium design, the OneWatch could very well give its rivals a run for their money.

Hopefully, OnePlus will extend its low pricing philosophy to the OneWatch too, but we’ll have to wait for more details to see where exactly this latest contender stands. Someone really should get around to bringing these devices into the country.
