See Hyundai’s Genesis driving itself in a convoy – after the drivers bail out

How do you test whether your driving assists really work? Like, really, really work? The way that Hyundai have taken is to put a bunch of their Genesis vehicles into a line, let their drivers abandon their cars one by one with the assists turned on (onto the back of a passing truck) and then let the line of vehicles follow each other down the road.

As if that isn’t enough, the lead car has the driver remain while blindfolded, with his hands off the steering wheel.

And, to complete this stunt-drive, the truck pulls in front of the lead car and slams on its breaks. The results… are actually rather pleasant.

Obviously this promotional video was filmed in controlled circumstances with professionals behind the wheel, so neither ourselves nor Hyundai recommend that anyone attempt this with an actual road car. Still, the demonstration is impressive enough to make us sit up and take notice of the South Korean auto maker.
