Wrists at the ready: Samsung Android Wear smartwatch incoming

Samsung’s Gear Fit and Gear 2 smartwatches made their debut just a couple of months ago, but now it looks like the South Korean tech giant is back at it again, with another smartwatch reportedly in the works.

FCC documents which were spotted by SammyToday outline details for a “smart wearable wristwatch” called the Samsung SM-R382.

The device measures in at 37mm x 46mm, making it a little smaller than the existing 37mm x 59mm Gear 2.

It’s unclear at this stage whether or not we’re looking at another Tizen-based smartwatch like the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo, or Samsung’s first Android Wear offering.

Samsung has already confirmed that it will be joining the likes of LG, Motorola and HTC with its own Google watch, so an Android Wear smartwatch from the tech giant won’t be the biggest of surprises.

Interestingly, Samsung recently filed for a “Samsung Wear” trademark, although it halted the process before completion.

We could however still meet Samsung’s first Android Wear powered smartwatch at Google I/O conference on 25 June, alongside the already-revealed LG G Watch and Motorola Moto 360.

Stay tuned for more info, as and when we get it.
