If you don’t already know about it, we’re sorry to be the bearers of tax news. South Africa is going to be instituting a 14% VAT charge on certain digital products as of 1 July 2014, and we’re already beginning to see the effects of the increase.
According to reports by 9to5Mac, Apple notified developers this weekend that they should see price increases within the next 24 hours on the SA App Store. The folks at 9to5Mac go on to state that you can be pretty certain that the price changes will also appear in the iTunes Store and iBookstore.
Developers can access the latest pricing guide in iTunes Connect while the rest of us will likely see them when accessing the store itself.
