Lenovo’s ThinkPad 10 is an update of the ThinkPad 2

Lenovo’s ThinkPad 2 is a great 10.1-inch tablet in its own right but there’s a successor in the works, newly announced by the Chinese company. Overseas media have been given a chance to play with the updated tablet, while we have to wait a little while to get a hands-on with the ThinkPad 10 but that doesn’t mean that we can’t take a peek under the hood. On paper.

Lenovo have improved the specs over the ThinkPad 10’s predecessor, throwing in a quad-core Atom processor with a Bay Trail pedigree, with an option to take the slate up to 4GB with regards to system memory though we’d imagine that 2GB will be a standard for the device. Storage options are flash-based, of course, with options up to 128GB possible.

The company is claiming a 10-hour battery life, while the 10.1-inch display is a full HD affair this time around. A stylus is supposed to be standard but the company has plans for releases with fingerprint and Smart Card readers as well as 4G support in future.

General availability overseas is expected some time in June, with prices at launch starting at the $500 (R5,200) mark for the base models.
