Gareth Cliff’s CliffCentral to be available on WeChat

Gareth Cliff’s departure from 5FM has led to other things. Namely CliffCentral, an online radio station that will launching on 1 May this year and which will be “…multi-faceted and free from suspensions, restrictions or BCCSA complaints”, according to Gareth Cliff.

While CliffCentral will be streamed over the internet, that’s not all that is in store for fans. Gareth Cliff’s new project will also be hooking up with WeChat to bring some added functionality to the venture.

WeChat MD Brett Loubser said in a statement “It’s not just about streaming. That’s only the beginning of the experience the CliffCentral OA on WeChat has to offer. A mash-up of functionalities will be available via the OA on WeChat: think voice and video clips from the CliffCentral team, the Poll with Mol, vouchers, chat groups etc. This is not radio as we know it.”

Also joining Gareth Cliff in Cliff Central will be most of the team from his old breakfast show – Leigh-Anne Mol, Damon Kalvari and Mabale Moloi will all be in attendance when the first show broadcasts from 6AM to 8AM on 1 May.
