Panasonic to unveil 4K wearable video recorders

4K has fast become the standard against which video quality is measured, and has already become available on a variety of formats, including recording equipment.

Panasonic is reportedly aiming to provide wearable tech for mobile video recorders out there with the HX-A500, which is able to shoot 4K video at 25 frames per second, something which Panasonic says is as yet unavailable on the market.

For comparison, GoPro also offers a 4K wearable camera, but it can only record at 15 frames per second, which cuts down on recording quality.

Although it shoots 4K at a faster rate, the HX-A500 won’t be as compact as the GoPro, as it has a separate body and camera, connected with a cable. The video recorded can be streamed via Wi-Fi or NFC to the  Panasonic Image App. The camera is also reportedly completely water and dustproof, so much so that it can shoot video 3 meters underwater for about 30 minutes at a time.

No word yet on where the camera will be released, but we do know it will be sometime during May, and that it will come with a pricetag of about R6800
