Google’s wearables are official, dubbed Android Wear, Motorola & LG announce devices

We can stop wondering about Google’s smartwatch plans, they are now official with hardware already announced for the new Android Wear platform from the search company. As is usual with Google, there are hardware partners who will be going most of the manufacturing for the line of wearables, including Asus, Samsung, LG, Motorola, and HTC.

In fact, both LG and Motorola have announced their first devices for Google’s wearable platform. LG has revealed the G Watch (below), which is slated for launch before the end of June this year. The smartwatch will be compatible with “…a wide range of Android smartphones” and will feature voice control and notifications. Specs for the wrist-wear will only be announced at a later stage.

Motorola has detailed the Moto 360, which will have a circular dial – unusually for a smartwatch. It will also feature voice control and Motorola  is punting easy notifications for email, calls and social network updates. The time-frame for release is about the same as LG’s offering, though we may not see it here any time soon. Specs are also to be announced.
