June might see the launch of a Windows Phone/Android dual-boot phone

Windows and Android do have a history of holding hands on certain devices, but never before have Google’s mobile OS and Windows phone officially inhabited the same mobile device in harmony.

Apparently that will all be in the past, and rather soon as well, thanks to Indian smartphone manufacturer Karbonn.

Karbonn, according to a report in The Times of India, is set to launch a dual-boot smartphone that will run Android and Windows Phone in June and, if we’re lucky, the phone will run Windows Phone 8.1 from the get-go.

According to Karbonn’s chairman Sudhir Hasija, speaking on 1 March, “Microsoft has eased the regulations and is opening up its platform for other players. We signed the agreement two days ago and will launch a range of Windows phones in about three months.” The dual-boot devices are planned for later this year, though the company has yet to set a price range for the phones.
