Nokia reportedly unveiling its Android phone later in February

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Nokia plans on officially announcing its very own Android phone at the Mobile World Congress, which is taking place later this month.

Apparently the phone is code-named ‘Normandy‘, but will lose the 007-ish nickname to the title Nokia X once it starts shipping. The phone will be running on a forked version of Android, that is to say, a modified version of the extremely successful mobile OS. As such won’t have some Android features like the Play Store, but it will still be able to run Android apps like Skype, Twitter, Vine, Facebook and BBM.

Several Microsoft features are thought to be baked into the handset from the start, which would explain why the phone is actually becoming a reality.

Nokia’s press event at the Mobile World Congress will take place on 24 February, we’ll have answers and details about the device as they appear.
