Worried about phone privacy? Meet the Blackphone

Two companies, Silent Circle and Geeksphone, will be introducing a new type of smartphone at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 called the Blackphone.

Designed for those who are a bit concerned about their privacy on this day and age of advertisement tracking and NSA spying, the Blackphone has been created with privacy in mind. That’s the whole point of the device, according to the company, users will be able to “…make and receive secure phone calls; exchange secure texts; exchange and store secure files; have secure video chat; browse privately; and anonymize your activity through a VPN.”

The privacy-focused smartphone will be appearing at MWC, where we should be able to get a closer look at its specifications as well as the Android-based PrivatOS operating system. The Blackphone is expected to become available for pre-order on 24 February this year.
