GTA: San Andreas making the jump to mobile next month

Rockstar Games, those same folks who gave us the brilliant Grand Theft Auto V, are about to make you feel old if you’re a gamer of a certain age. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the largest release in the series (geographically) to hit the PC and the PlayStation 2, will be making its debut appearance on mobile platforms in December.

Rockstar have yet to give a solid date for GTA: San Andreas on mobile devices, saying only that “…select iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle and Windows Mobile devices” will see the adventures of CJ and the rest of the Grove Street family when it does release. But there are some changes being made to the original game.

To give you an idea of how powerful mobile devices have become, the visual changes being made to the game include “…dynamic and detailed shadows, greater draw distance, an enriched color palette, plus enhanced character and car models”. Controller support is being added to the mobile version but it’s getting a new set of touch controls in case you’re not one of those with a controller that likes smartphones and tablets.

What this means is that soon you’ll be able to hear the words “All you had to do was follow the damn train, CJ!” repeatedly from your mobile phone. Try and resist the temptation to lob your device across the room, there’s also a whole world out there to explore.
