LG makes the G Pro Lite official, light on specs

LG may have wowed us with the G2 but the company isn’t neglecting the lower end of the market. An announcement from the company yesterday officially revealed their G Pro Lite phone, which is aimed at a very difference audience.

The G Pro Lite doesn’t feature the same speedy hardware as recent entries from LG, featuring a 1GHz dual core MT6577 processor, 1GB of system memory and 8GB of internal storage. The display is also a step down, being a 5.5-inch 960 x 540 affair. There is a removable 3,140mAh battery in there, as well as an 8 megapixel camera.

LG is touting a Stylus Pen which comes with the G Pro Lite as well as UX features similar to those seen in the more evolved G-series handsets. Users will be able to unlock the screen with KnockOn’s dual tap function, there is a multi-window feature, continuous stop-start video recording on a single file and LG’s QuickMemo and QTranslator are also on the cards.

There are no hints on what the pricing for the G Pro Lite will be but it’ll likely be fairly inexpensive. The price may not matter however, a potential launch here in South Africa is also in doubt. The low-spec handset is due to roll out first in Latin America before heading to Asia, Russia, the Middle East, China and India.
