LG takes the veil off the G2

LG’s new flagship phone, the G2, has had its official unveiling. Detailed late yesterday, the phone has dropped the Optimus portion of its name and added a host of features designed to take it into competition with Samsung’s Galaxy S 4.

On the list of official specs is a new 1080p LCD display, measuring 5.2 inches, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor (2.26GHz). 2GB of RAM, either 16GB or 32GB of storage and a massive 3000mAh battery round out the specs but the G2 doesn’t stop there.

LG has added optical image stabilisation to the 13MP rear camera and there are a few more features besides. The G2 detects when you’re putting the phone to your ear, answering calls automatically, and users can add a Guest profile to the handset if they wish. An IR blaster and changes to the UI are also in the offing.

LG says that the G2 “learns from you”, meaning that its software features will customise themselves to the user over time. Unfortunately LG didn’t confirm pricing or availability of the new flagship but it will be a global launch when it happens.
