Apple testing larger iPad, iPhone

A new report from the Wall Street Journal claims that Apple is working on larger iPads and iPhones, citing supply chain sources for the information.

Apple is said to be considering a display size of 12.9-inches for a new iPad, while iPhone sizes could feature either 4.7 or 5.7-inch displays. The company has been requesting prototype displays that fall into these screen ranges, according to the report.

Whether iOS devices bearing these screen sizes actually make the jump to consumers isn’t known, Apple could just be testing a variety of potential products.

The WSJ report also claims that a new standard sized iPad will be released later this year, bearing in-cell screen tech with the Retina Display which will allow the device to be thinner and (likely) lighter than the previous incarnation of the iPad.
