Valve introduces Pipeline, aimed at getting high-school students into game development

Game developer and publisher Valve has introduced a new initiative, called Pipeline, aimed at high-school students who may be keen on getting into game development. Valve hopes to find out “…if we can take a group of high school students with minimal work experience and train them in the skills and methods necessary to be successful at a company like Valve.”

This is a departure for Valve, who typically hire proven developers, but the company is quite often experimental. They will be revealing more details regarding Pipeline in the coming months but they have released a video explaining the project. Valve also has a newsletter sign-up form on the Pipeline home page where they will be updating interested parties.

There’s no information on whether international high school students might be eligible for the program, though it seems like it will be confined to the States for the moment.
