Samsung announces 3G and LTE entry-level Galaxy handset

Samsung’s Galaxy lineup is becoming more and more appropriately named, with new stars being birthed into the South Korean company’s constellation at an impressive rate. The newest appearance is that of Samsung’s Galaxy Ace 3, an entry-level handset that will be released in 3G and LTE versions, depending on the release market. Which markets will get which handset hasn’t been revealed. Yet.

The 3G version of the Galaxy Ace 3 packs in a 1GHz dual-core processor running a 4-inch WVGA (450 x 800) TFT display, backed by 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage (roughly 1.7GB available). Increasing the storage with a microSD is almost a given with this entry-level handset, which supports cards of up to 64GB.

The LTE Galaxy Ace 3 ups the specs slightly in places. The two variants share their RAM, camera (5-megapixel) and microSD card support but the LTE handset increases the processor size to a 1.2GHz dual-core unit, and internal storage jumps to 8GB (5GB available). Both handsets will feature Android 4.2 Jelly Bean at launch.

Just when launch actually is hasn’t been announced but we’ll probably find out a little more at Samsung’s event later this month.
