Apple reveals new 16GB iPod touch sans rear camera

Apple has announced, through their online store, the existence of a new version of the 16GB iPod touch. Perhaps the largest difference between this new model and previous versions is that the rear camera has been removed but there are a few other changes in store.

The display is now a 4-inch multitouch Retina display (1,,136 x 640, 326ppi), and it features a dual-core A5 CPU and a front FaceTime HD camera (1.2 megapixel). It uses Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector and seems to be replacing Apple’s 4th generation iPods.

The new 16GB device is now retailing for $229 (R2,250) in a single black and silver variant.
