Samsung said to be working on a ‘camera phone’, the Galaxy S 4 Zoom

Samsung is said to be working on a ‘camera phone’, a handset where the camera takes preference when it comes to hardware, called the Galaxy S 4 Zoom.

The initial report from SamMobile claims that the handset will be based on the Galaxy Camera from the company, albeit with a smaller 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display. The S 4 Zoom will reportedly feature a 16-megapixel sensor, which may or may not be the same as the one found on the Galaxy Camera, as well as 8GB of internal storage and expansion support via microSD for a further 64GB.

The unconfirmed handset will have a standard range of connectivity support, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and A-GPS being some of the rumoured options, and either a dual or quad-core processor. The S 4 Zoom’s CPU and RAM are apparently not final just yet but the handset is expected to make an appearance in June or July this year with Android’s Jelly Bean OS, suitably skinned for Samsung, in tow.

Now all that is needed is for Samsung to make it official. We’ll update if Samsung makes any announcements.
