Samsung’s Galaxy Mega handsets are official

Samsung has officially announced two new handsets with dimensions even larger than the recently launched Galaxy Note II. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 and 6.3 smartphones aren’t that high up on the hardware ladder but they seem to be making up for it in size.

The Galaxy Mega 6.3, as the name suggests, features a 6.3-inch 720p display, 1.7GHz dual core CPU, 8 or 16GB of internal storage, LTE and will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 has a 5.8-inch QHD display, 1.4GHz dual core CPU and the same storage and OS as it’s larger sibling. Both devices will feature 1.5GB of RAM and an 8 megapixel rear and 1.9 megapixel front camera.

Samsung will be rolling the devices out globally from May, starting with Europe and Russia, so we may see it on local shores soon. Pricing hasn’t been announced.
