Amazon intros Send to Kindle button for news websites

Amazon have decided to make deferring reading of website content a simpler affair than it was up till recently by introducing a new Send to Kindle button for websites.

The introduction for the Send to Kindle Button, on Kindle Daily Post, reads “Have you ever encountered news, blogs, articles and other content on the web that you want to read but don’t have time to do so immediately? The Send to Kindle Button lets you easily send that content to your Kindle to read later, at your convenience. Just send once and read everywhere on any of your Kindle devices or free Kindle reading apps for iPhone, iPad and Android phones or tablets.”

Sending news or other website content to a Kindle for later perusal has been possible to some time thanks to browser extensions but Amazon’s Send to Kindle feature bypasses all of that by being embedded in web pages on participating websites.

So far Time, The Washington Post and website Boing Boing have all implemented the feature. It is available for website developers as well as WordPress users, free of charge, and there are even a few customisation options available for the button’s appearance.
