BlackBerry 10 handsets (possibly) dated and priced for South Africa

BlackBerry’s new BB 10 handsets may be landing on South African shores towards the end of March, if a new report is to be believed. However, Stuff understands it will be released in early March, not later in the month.

Though not from the horse’s mouth, several Vodacom and MTN stores are apparently expecting the devices to reach them between 20 and 23 March. This is roughly a month later than a media-exclusive event hosted by BlackBerry in SA, which is reportedly set to take place on 23 February. Stuff, however, understands that this event will happen later in the week.

However, Incredible Connection has the pricing listed for the Z10 device, pegging the price for the handset at just shy of R7,000 without a contract subsidy, but this may not be the final pricing for the Z10. The Incredible Connection listing also has the phone’s launch date as 1 March, several weeks sooner than MTN and Vodacom stores are reportedly expecting it.

There is also some confusion as to whether South African consumers will be able to purchase the LTE version of BlackBerry’s latest, but no clarity is available on that, although Stuff understands all the operators were offered LTE handsets.
