Apple sends invitations for 23 October event

Apple yesterday sent out the invitations for the long-rumoured 23 October event where the company will be unveiling a new addition (or additions) to their product lineup.

The event is set to take place at the California Theatre in San Jose and the invitation itself doesn’t give very much away regarding what is in the offing. The invite does contain the text “We’ve got a little more to show you”, hinting at the iPad Mini‘s official reveal. The invitation could also possibly refer to the rumoured 13″ MacBook Pro with Retina Display that the company may be showing for the first time.

Apple’s iPad Mini is expected to compete with similar 7″ tablet offerings from Google and Amazon but, if the inventory information apparently leaked from Europe’s Media Market retailer is correct, the new device is too highly priced to give the Kindle or Nexus much pause unless Apple manages to justify the higher price point. The inventory listing has the cheapest iPad Mini priced at 249 Euros ($330), far higher than the $199 that competing 7″ tablets are priced at.
