Samsung reveals Windows 8 ultrabook, 11.6″ tablets

Samsung has revealed several new Windows 8 devices ahead of the Windows 8 launch due next week, including an ultrabook and two 11.6″ Windows 8 tablets.

Last night Samsung took the covers off their 13″ Series 5 Ultra Touch Windows 8 ultrabook, which features a Core i3 CPU, a 1366×768 display, 4GB of RAM and 500GB of hard drive storage. Also included is 24GB of ExpressCache SSD storage. The ultrabook’s pricing starts at $809.99 (R7,105 or so) but an extra $50 (R440) is enough to upgrade the processor to a Core i5.

Samsung’s two 11.6″ tablets are rebranded versions of the Ativ Smart PC 500T and 700T hybrid tablets, which can be paired with keyboards. The 500T will have a Core i5 CPU, 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which the 700T will up the specs to an Atom Z2760 CPU, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The 500T will cost users $749.99 with keyboard (R6,580) and $649.99 without (R5,700) while the 700T will cost $1,199 (R10,550).

There is no retail availability announced as yet, though it will likely go on sale when Microsoft’s newest operating system lands.
