Arc Search could be how you navigate the internet of the future

Arc is a web browser and a lot more

Arc Search is expanding and hopes to shape the future of how you browse the web.

Today’s web browsers all function more or less the same way. You type in a question or part of the page you’re looking for and a search engine, usually Google, presents a few sponsored links before (hopefully) providing the answers to your question or your desired webpage.

Arc Search, an AI-powered search tool from The Browser Company based on the Arc browser for Mac, has just launched on iPhone and takes a different approach. It prioritises quick search results free from distractions and clutter. At least that’s what their blog post claims. They may have a point.

Arc eyes the future

That’s clear from the moment you open the app to see the keyboard and text field waiting for your input. It can still function like the browsers you know, providing the top search engine results. But it can also supply a broader pool of knowledge by pulling articles from different sources to create a “page for me” – similar to Google’s AI-generated search results (visible if you’ve enabled Google’s feature).

Arc’s other notable features include a sidebar where your tabs, bookmarks, and spaces live, tab archiving to keep your Arc space clean, and a minimalist reader mode. You can create separate spaces for specific projects and it will even let you customise any website to your liking.

Like any ambitious project, it is still in development with new features in the pipeline– such as a sync feature to link your Arc experience on your iPhone and desktop. It is currently only available on MacOS and iOS for now but a Windows version is “coming soon”. Watch this space for a full review of the browser soon.
