Sony has announced its very first in-house pro controller. The DualSense Edge wireless controller developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment promises a customisable gaming experience.

The DualSense Edge is packed full of ways to personalise on a hardware and software level. The new controller will allow you to remap or deactivate specific button inputs. Sensitivity and dead zones can be adjusted on the sticks and the triggers. FPS players can expect faster inputs to give them an in-game … edge (#SorryNotSorry).
You can save a personal profile and switch between different profiles with ease. A physical switch on the controller will handle the profile switching which means you can do it on-the-fly without minimising your game. Three types of changeable stick caps (standard, high dome and low dome) will be included. Two swappable sets of back buttons will also be included because what’s a ‘pro’ controller without back buttons? The stick modules are replaceable for maximum longevity but will be sold separately.

Time for an upgrade
The DualSense Edge retains the same features as the DualSense like haptic feedback, motion controls, adaptive triggers and more. This time we’re treated to a textured trackpad and trigger buttons to optimise grip.
The USB Type-C cable is also part of the improved grip party. The braided cable has a connector housing that locks into the controller. The included carry case, which has space for the controller and its components also charges the controller when stored.
There’s a lot to look forward to for the DualSense Edge, which still has no release date or price. Predictions for the price are comparable to its competitor, the Xbox Elite Series 2 which retails at around R4,500.
